Thousands of visitors are expected to flock to a luxury lodge retreat in East Yorkshire as it gears up for a spectacular end-of-year series of events. Darwin Escapes’ Kilnwick Percy Resort and Golf Club, located in Pocklington, will host a variety of family-friendly activities, culminating in its much-anticipated Fireworks Spectacular on Sunday, November 3.
The 180-acre resort, which was acquired by the award-winning Darwin Escapes in 2017, boasts stunning views, serene woodland trails, and 34 two-storey lodges. It also features a state-of-the-art gymnasium and The Box Health and Fitness suite, making it an ideal destination for both relaxation and recreation. The pet-friendly venue includes two restaurants and has become a sought-after location for weddings and corporate events, attracting guests from across the UK and beyond.
With around 1,000 revellers expected to attend the upcoming bonfire night celebrations, Deputy General Manager Terri Cooper expressed optimism about the event. She stated, “The Fireworks Spectacular is one of the jewels in the crown locally, when families from all over East Yorkshire and wider areas join us for an amazing afternoon of music-led displays from the incredible Fireworkers – who successfully competed at the British Firework Championships – fairground rides, live entertainment, food and drink and more.”
In recent years, Kilnwick Percy has gained popularity not only for its lodges and 18-hole championship golf course but also for its picturesque setting, which has led to a surge in wedding bookings. Cooper noted, “We have seen a rise in the number of people getting married here, given our picturesque location and the exclusivity we offer.” This growth has positioned the retreat as a prominent player in the local economy, offering a range of activities year-round.
The retreat is now recognised as the largest wedding venue in the area and has transformed from a hidden gem to a well-known destination for both tourists and local residents. “We were something of a hidden gem but that has changed in recent years, given the investments in our facilities and the growing number of people visiting the park,” Cooper added.
Looking ahead, Kilnwick Percy has a range of exciting events planned for the winter season, including Gin Tasting with Big Willy Distillery, a 1940s- and 1950s-night, painting workshops, afternoon tea, and a Winter Wonderland Wedding Fayre. The retreat will also feature Mediumship and Clairvoyance sessions with special guest Wendy Shelton, as well as a lively drag cabaret night.
For nature enthusiasts, the resort offers a relaxing Tranquility Spa and Nordic Relaxation Spa Area, alongside endless walking trails, woodland paths, and wildlife, all nestled within 120 acres of forest surrounding the site.
As Kilnwick Percy prepares for an exciting winter season, visitors can expect a range of unique experiences and events that highlight the beauty and charm of this East Yorkshire retreat.
