Trip.Gourmet, the leading food travel guide from Trip.com Group, has unveiled its updated global restaurant rankings and new features at a high-profile event held at the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. The launch, which also marked the presentation of the Trip.Best Gourmet Awards, is part of the company’s efforts to enhance the dining experiences of global travellers as food tourism continues to grow in popularity.
With more tourists focusing on culinary experiences as part of their travels, Trip.com has seen a 30% year-on-year increase in global users searching for food-related keywords. This includes heightened interest in fine dining, local specialities, and regional food experiences. A user survey conducted by Trip.com revealed that 44% of respondents consider food a key factor when choosing travel destinations, highlighting the increasing importance of gastronomy in shaping travel decisions.
Sunny Sun, Vice President of Trip.com Group and CEO of Trip.Gourmet, spoke at the launch, saying: “Travellers are increasingly discovering the world through food, a universal language. Trip.Gourmet celebrates excellence in dining, from top-tier restaurants to local flavours. Our newly updated rankings and features aim to give travellers the best possible food experiences, no matter where they go.”
Updated Global Restaurant Rankings
Trip.Gourmet, established in 2016, provides global restaurant rankings, travel-related food content, and reservation services. The latest update significantly expands its coverage, with more than 10,000 restaurants in over 300 cities now featured. These restaurants have been categorised into four key themes: Fine Dining (including Black Diamond, Diamond, and Platinum rankings), Local Restaurants, Light Bites, and Restaurants for Views & Experiences.
Selections are based on restaurant quality, popularity, customer reviews, relevance to the theme, and the popularity of the destination. A major enhancement also includes the integration of the restaurant listings within the Trip.Best platform, which allows travellers to discover and book top dining, accommodation, and entertainment options from a single app.
Celebrating Culinary Excellence
Several prestigious fine dining establishments from across the Asia-Pacific were honoured at the Trip.Best Gourmet Awards. These included top restaurants such as Odette, Waku Ghin, and CUT by Wolfgang Puck in Singapore; Kubu at Mandapa in Bali; Potong and Le Du in Bangkok; SÉZANNE and RyuGin in Tokyo; and La Yeon and Bicena in Seoul.
On Trip.Gourmet’s exclusive Black Diamond list, nearly half (49.12%) of the top restaurants come from France, China, and Japan, demonstrating their dominance in the global fine dining scene. Europe also made a strong showing, with entries such as Core by Clare Smyth (UK) and L’Oiseau Blanc (France) receiving recognition.
Hotel dining is increasingly popular, with 41% of Trip.Gourmet’s rankings featuring restaurants from luxury hotels. Renowned establishments such as Lai Po Heen at the Mandarin Oriental in Kuala Lumpur, JAAN in Swissôtel the Stamford Singapore, and Ossiano at Atlantis, The Palm Dubai were highlighted.
New Reservation Features and Food Guide Channel
Trip.Gourmet now supports direct reservations at over 50,000 restaurants worldwide, using platforms like The Fork in Europe, Chope in Southeast Asia, and OpenTable in North America. This allows travellers to book top restaurants easily, no matter where they are.
In addition, a new Food Guide Channel has been launched, offering curated recommendations of local culinary gems. Available on both Trip.com and Ctrip, this channel will showcase speciality food lists and must-try dishes, further encouraging culinary exploration for travellers.
To support this initiative, Trip.Gourmet has partnered with Shangri-La hotels for a “Taste the Season” campaign. This new offering packages hotel stays with signature dishes and food vouchers, meeting the rising demand for luxury hotel dining experiences. A mini-series promoting this trend will also be released on social media.
With these updates, Trip.Gourmet is set to solidify its position as a leading food guide, helping travellers discover and enjoy the best culinary experiences across the globe.
