Rhug Estate in Denbighshire has seen a surge of visitors this festive season, with hundreds flocking to its Christmas craft fair, despite challenging weather conditions. The event, which took place over the weekend, featured festive treats, artisan market stalls, and a bustling Santa’s Grotto, drawing in families and Christmas shoppers from far and wide.
The estate, located in the picturesque town of Corwen, is known for its 12,500-acre organic farm, and it is no stranger to attracting crowds during the holiday season. This year, it has seen particularly strong demand for its world-renowned free-range organic turkeys, with almost all orders sold out. In addition to the popular festive turkeys, the farm shop’s special hampers, including the “ultimate weekend meat box” complete with wine, beer, cheese, and crackers, have also been flying off the shelves.
Owner Lord Newborough, who oversees the estate, expressed his delight with the turnout and sales, noting that the farm has been busier than ever this December. “We’ve almost sold out of turkeys, and our meat boxes, packed with high-quality organic produce, are proving to be extremely popular with customers,” he said. “Orders have come in from all over the country and internationally, with digital promotions and Black Friday deals playing a big role in our success.”
As the estate continues to draw in Christmas shoppers, Lord Newborough is optimistic about even more visitors in the coming weeks, with the Rhug Chapel Carol Service and dog-friendly late-night shopping events still to come. The bustling atmosphere has helped make this one of Rhug Estate’s busiest festive seasons to date.
The craft fair, held in the newly redeveloped 3,650 sq ft retail unit, was one of the main highlights of the weekend. The unit, which is available to rent, is part of the estate’s ongoing expansion. It features an open-plan design, polished concrete floors, and secure access, making it an attractive venue for businesses or organisations looking for commercial space in the region.
“The building is magnificent, with its modern design and fantastic facilities. It’s an ideal space for any business looking for a location in North Wales,” said Lord Newborough. “With the footfall at Rhug Estate and its excellent transport links, it offers a wonderful opportunity for any enterprise looking to establish itself here.”
Looking ahead to the new year, the estate is excited about future developments, including plans for 2025. Lord Newborough thanked customers and supporters for their loyalty and enthusiasm, particularly during the busy winter period. “It has been an incredible year, and we have big plans for the future. We are grateful for everyone who has supported us, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors and partners in the coming months.”
With its festive offerings, beautiful location, and commitment to high-quality organic produce, Rhug Estate looks set to continue its success into the new year and beyond.
