Solo adventure travel brand WeRoad is set to take at least 30,000 travellers on exciting journeys during the 2024-2025 winter season, from December 1st to January 15th. The company’s latest winter travel data reveals key insights into emerging trends, with more people spending on longer trips, booking well in advance, and seeking unique destinations across the globe.
Key Statistics and Insights
WeRoad’s winter data highlights several shifts in traveller behaviour for the upcoming season. With a target of 30,000 travellers, the company is preparing for a surge in demand for curated group trips, providing a mix of adventure and cultural experiences.
Among UK travellers, the top five destinations for winter 2024-2025 include Morocco, the Nordic countries, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the USA. These destinations reflect a growing interest in both warmer climates and snowy escapes, with the average trip duration standing at eight days.
One of the most striking trends this year is the increase in spending. Travellers are budgeting 18% more compared to previous years, suggesting that many are prioritising more luxurious and immersive experiences. Additionally, there is a clear trend towards early planning, with longer booking windows observed as travellers secure their spots well in advance.
Growing Popularity of Long-Haul Destinations
A significant 73% of WeRoad’s travellers are opting for long-haul destinations, which indicates a strong appetite for far-flung adventures. This shift marks a notable departure from more traditional European getaways, as UK travellers increasingly seek unique cultural experiences in distant parts of the world.
In terms of destination preferences, the data reveals some surprising hotspots, with countries like the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Costa Rica, and India gaining traction. These locations reflect a growing curiosity among travellers for off-the-beaten-path destinations that offer both relaxation and adventure.
Diverse Travel Preferences
WeRoad’s winter travel data also sheds light on the types of experiences travellers are seeking. There is a clear demand for Northern Lights tours, active adventures, and beach escapes, with many travellers opting for diverse itineraries that combine different landscapes and activities. UK travellers, in particular, are drawn to the stunning cold landscapes of the Nordic regions, with Iceland’s Northern Lights and trips to the Golden Circle proving especially popular.
“We’ve seen a notable shift in how people approach their winter holidays this year. With many opting for longer, more luxurious trips, travellers are looking for both comfort and excitement,” said Justyna Chlopecka, UK Marketing Manager at WeRoad. “The growing interest in unconventional destinations is particularly exciting, as people want to experience something new and meaningful.”
A Winter of Unforgettable Experiences
As the holiday season approaches, WeRoad is ready to provide travellers with a range of unforgettable experiences. With 30,000 adventurers set to explore destinations around the world, the company is confident that the winter of 2024-2025 will be one filled with new friendships, extraordinary journeys, and experiences that will last a lifetime.
“Whether they are chasing the Northern Lights or unwinding on a beach, our travellers are in for an exceptional winter,” added Chlopecka. With a renewed passion for travel and adventure, WeRoad’s upcoming season promises to deliver something for everyone, from sun chasers to thrill-seekers.
