Qatar has launched a new global tourism campaign, ‘Surprise Yourself,’ as part of its strategic goal to attract six million visitors annually by 2030. The initiative seeks to position Qatar as a must-visit destination, showcasing its unique offerings to potential travellers.
The campaign invites families, couples, and groups of friends to explore the unexpected experiences available in Qatar. From its stunning natural landscapes to its vibrant cultural scene, the campaign aims to highlight the diverse and meaningful adventures the country has to offer. Key attractions include the idyllic Banana Island, the bustling Souq Waqif, and the exhilarating thrill of dune bashing, promising both relaxation and excitement in a warm and welcoming environment.
Central to the campaign’s messaging is the theme, “Moments That Stay With You,” which focuses on the emotional connections and lasting memories that visitors can create during their time in Qatar. This strategic branding is designed to differentiate Qatar from other tourist destinations, providing a rich tapestry of activities that cater to a wide range of interests.
Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, emphasised the nation’s strategic geographical location, which connects it to over 177 destinations worldwide. With a flight time of just six to eight hours from most major cities, Qatar is positioned as an accessible choice for those seeking a convenient stopover or a safe, family-friendly holiday filled with sunshine and adventure.
The ‘Surprise Yourself’ campaign will be implemented across ten international markets through various platforms, including television, social media, and digital advertising. A modern rendition of Bobby Hebb’s classic song “Sunny” accompanies the promotional materials, adding a lively touch to the campaign.
Qatar’s tourism sector is bolstered by its futuristic skyline, luxurious accommodations, and pristine beaches along the Arabian Gulf. The country prides itself on being family-friendly, offering a mix of leisure and adventure activities, alongside a high safety index, state-of-the-art facilities, and an award-winning national airline and airport. Additionally, open tourism visa policies make it easier for visitors to explore the country.
As the winter season approaches, Qatar is gearing up for an exciting array of international sports and cultural events. Highlights include the return of Formula One racing, lively activities in the Sealine Desert, and concerts featuring both regional and international artists. The Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition and the Qatar International Food Festival are among the notable events that are set to captivate both locals and tourists alike.
Looking ahead to 2025, Qatar is poised to host major events such as the Web Summit and the Arab Cup, further solidifying its status as a premier global travel destination.
